Municipal Court

The Putnam County Municipal Court is comprised of the following three divisions:

Traffic

The Traffic division handles traffic violations, ticket payouts and vehicle impoundments.  Driving under the influence and certain other charges require a court appearance. Fines for many violations may be paid on the court’s website, in person or by mail.  A listing of bonds for waiverable violations can be found in the appendix of the local court rules. Civil

The civil division of the Putnam County Municipal Court handles cases in which the amount of money in dispute does not exceed $15,000.00.  Complaints involving landlord-tenant disputes, evictions, rents, escrows, garnishments and appeals to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles are filed with this division. The clerk’s office provides assistance to citizens in filing of small claims, which involves disputes of $6,000.00 or less by furnishing forms and instructional material.

Criminal

This division has jurisdiction over all misdemeanor cases.
