The Putnam County Court system has the authority to conduct preliminary hearings in felony cases, and both have jurisdiction over traffic and non-traffic misdemeanors. The court system consists of a Common Pleas Court, Municipal Court, Probate, and Juvenile Court. The court system is aided by the County Clerk of Courts, the Adult Parole Authority, the Adult Probation Department and Putnam County Prosecutors Office.

Public Notice

Notice of Proposed Court Rule Change

            An amendment to the Putnam County Municipal Local Court Rules is under consideration.  The intent of this rule change is to amend the language used in Local Court Rule 6, from 1901.261(B)(1) to 1901.261(B)(1)(a).  Upon request of the Clerk of Courts, an additional $10.00 will added to the standard court costs of all new case filings.  This additional $10.00 will be placed into the Clerk of Courts Computerization Fund.

            This local court rule amendment is open for comment for 30 days until January 31, 2025.

Arraignments

If you have been summonsed into Court, and are not feeling well, please contact the Clerk of Courts office @ 419.523.3110 for a possible continuance.  If you have an attorney, please contact their office.

Pre-Trial/Hearings

In an effort to minimize traffic in and out of the courthouse, most scheduled court hearings, have been converted into telephonic hearings.   If you need to check on your next scheduled court date, you may do so by calling the Clerk of Courts office at 419.523.3110, calling your attorney (if applicable) or by visiting our public access web-site.

Court Filing

Court Filing will continue to be accepted via mail or fax.

Payments

Payments can be made on the court’s website  (only payments in full accepted on-line), by mailing certified check or money order to Putnam County Municipal Court, 245 E. Main Street, Suite 301, Ottawa, Ohio 45875, or cash payment in person.
