Voter Registration Deadline for the March 17, 2020 Primary Election

The voter registration deadline for the March 17, 2020 Primary Election is February 18, 2020.  Not only is this the deadline for new registrations, it is also the deadline for name and/or address changes.

The Putnam County Board of Elections is open Monday through Friday 8:30 A.M. until 4:30 P.M. through February 14, 2020.  The office will also be open 8:30 A.M. until 9:00 P.M. on February 18, 2020.

You are qualified to register to vote in Ohio if you meet all the following requirements:

  1. You are a citizen of the United States.
  2. You will be at least 18 years old on or before the day of the general election.
  3. You will be a resident of Ohio for at least 30 days immediately before the election in which you want to vote.
  4. You are not incarcerated (in jail or prison) for a felony conviction under the laws of Ohio, another state or the United States.
  5. You have not been declared incompetent for voting purposes by a probate court.
  6. You have not been permanently denied the right to vote for violations of the election laws.

You may complete a voter registration form at any county board of elections; www.MyOhioVote.com; the Ohio Secretary of State’s office; BMV or Deputy Registrars; Department of Job and Family Services; the Department of Mental Health; the Department of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities; the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) office; the Rehabilitation Services Commission; any state-assisted college or university that provides assistance to disabled students; any county treasurer’s office; any public high school or vocational school; or any public library.  However, if you are updating your current Ohio voter registration and returning your completed change of name and/or address form by U.S. Mail, you must send it to your county board of elections or the Secretary of State’s Office.

 

2020 Candidate Petition for Partisan and Local Question & Issues

Filing Deadline for March 17, 2020 Primary Election

The Putnam County Board of Elections would like to remind everyone of petition & local question & issues filing deadline for 2020 Primary Election.

Nominating petitions of candidates in partisan races must be filed by 4:00 p.m. on December 18, 2019 for the March 17, 2020 Primary Election.  This is also the deadline to file issues for the Primary Election.

Write-in candidates for the March 17, 2020 Primary Election must file declarations of intent by 4:00 p.m. by January 6, 2020.

Petitions are available at the Putnam County Board of Elections, 575 Ottawa-Glandorf Road, Suite 2, Ohio, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.  For more information, please contact the Putnam County Board of Elections or the Ohio Secretary of State.

When You Vote, Take I.D.

Date:  November 12, 2019

When you go to vote on Election Day, make sure you bring your identification.  Acceptable identification includes:

  • a current and valid photo identification (i.e. Ohio driver license, state ID card, government ID). Photo identification must include your name and address (does not need to be current address for driver license or state id card); or
  • a military identification that shows your name, but not necessarily your address; or
  • a copy of a current utility bill (including cell phone bill), bank statement, paycheck, government check, or other government document that shows your name and current address (including from a public college or university).

Please note that Ohio law provides you cannot use as proof of identification a notice that the board of elections mailed to you. Voters who do not provide one of these documents will still be able to vote by provisional ballot.  For more information, please call your local county board of elections office, visit www.sos.state.oh.us, or call the Ohio Secretary of State.

Absentee Voting Available for the March 17, 2020 Primary Election

Date:  November 12, 2020

Absentee ballots will be available for Putnam County electors (non-UOCAVA) starting February 19, 2020.  An absentee ballot may be obtained by mail by sending a completed absentee application to the Putnam County Board of Elections.  The absentee applications by mail must be received at the board office no later than noon on March 14, 2020.  An absentee ballot may also be obtained in person at the Putnam County Board of Elections,

Putnam County Board of Elections’ Regular Monthly Meetings

Date:  March 6, 2019

The Putnam County Board of Elections will hold its monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 4:30 PM; however, when there is an election in Putnam County, the monthly meeting will instead be held on Election Day.  The meetings are held in the conference room of the Board of Elections office, which is located in the Glandorf Complex, 575 Ottawa-Glandorf Road, Suite 2, Ottawa.
