Livestock and poultry producers are
looking to composting as a means of
properly disposing of dead animals from their farm operations. As regulations
on disposal become stricter, Composting is becoming an increasingly popular
method of safely disposing dead livestock and poultry. Composting can provide a
money-saving, environmentally-friendly method of doing this, and at the same
time, become a source of nutrients for cropland.
Putnam Soil & Water can provide assistance to farmers who are interested in installing an animal composting facility on their farm operation. Such facilities can be as simple, complex or inexpensive as they want.
Interested persons can also receive federal cost-share money.
