TO INSPECT USV’S

                                                           

RESOLUTION

 

            The Board of County Commissioners of Putnam County, Ohio, met in regular session on the 13th  day of July, 2010, at the office of said Board with the following members present:  Mr. John E. Love,  Mr. Vincent T. Schroeder and Mr. Travis A. Jerwers.

 

            Mr. Schroeder   moved the adoption of the following Resolution:

 

            WHEREAS, According to Ohio Revised Code section 4503.10 golf carts and other underspeed vehicles must be  licensed.  If USV’s are operated only on private roads, the operational equipment and registration requirements would generally not apply. A USV is described as a four-wheeled vehicle other than a truck that either is originally designed and constructed with a top attainable speed of 20 mph or less, or is not originally designed and constructed for operation on a street or highway. Most golf carts are USV’s.

WHEREAS, Prior to the issuance of license plates for a USV, the vehicle must be inspected.

and

 

WHEREAS, Putnam County Sheriff  James Beutler has applied to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles to inspect golf carts and other underspeed vehicles.

now therefore, be it

 

RESOLVED, The board of county commissioners does hereby authorize permission for the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office to promulgate and administer an inspection program for golf carts and other USV’s at a charge not to exceed $50.00 for out of county residents. Putnam County residents will not be assessed a fee unless it requires a second inspection to pass. A fee then will be assessed not to exceed $25.00. Out of county residents will be assessed a fee of $75.00 for the second inspection.
